What is the Emixa Advanced Analytics Hackathon?
The Hackathon brings together cross-functional teams of Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and App Developers to tackle real-world data challenges using a Scrum framework. Each team of 6–8 participants includes Emixa consultants from various disciplines.
Over 48 hours, teams work in sprints to develop a functional web-based application that addresses predictive, forecasting, or optimisation problems. Unlike typical outcomes such as result tables or accuracy scores, the event delivers a working Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This MVP demonstrates real potential for further development and solves complex business challenges using Machine Learning models trained on your company’s actual data.
How can you participate?
If you'd like to propose a Data Challenge for the Hackathon to address a business problem in your organisation, simply follow these five easy steps to participate.
Before the Hackathon
Before the Hackathon, Emixa can organise one or more intake sessions to assess the feasibility of your Data Challenge(s). During these sessions, teams will explore your internal data with your input and business expertise. Where relevant, external data sources (e.g., Google Maps, public datasets, or online images) may also be considered.
Following the intake, you can securely submit your data via a protected upload portal. If needed, an NDA can be signed, and the data can be pseudonymised or anonymised.
During the Hackathon
Over the 48-hour Hackathon, teams will tackle the Data Challenge in sprints. To support their progress and achieve the best results, it’s recommended to have at least one collaborator available for scheduled online Q&A sessions. These sessions allow the teams to resolve any data or business-related queries not covered earlier.
On the second day, pre-selected stakeholders will attend a final presentation where teams showcase the working solutions they’ve developed.
Do you already have a team of Data Scientists eager to contribute actively during the Hackathon? Let’s discuss how they can get involved during the preparatory sessions!
After the Hackathon
After the Hackathon, the Emixa Advanced Analytics Team can organise follow-up sessions with selected stakeholders or your Data Science/Analytics team. Together, we’ll develop a detailed plan to transform the Hackathon’s end product into a production-ready solution and seamlessly integrate it into your organisation.
